Spontaneous Human Combustion (SHC) or spontaneous human combustion is a phenomenon when a man burned to ashes without cause is unknown. This event is considered as one of the greatest mysteries that remain unanswered, even after 350 years since the first cases were reported.


History of Spontaneous Human Combustion 

SHC phenomenon was first widely known by the public of a Danish anatomist Thomas Bartholin named. In 1663, he told how a woman in Paris was found to have become ashes and smoke in bed. Surprisingly, the straw mat where she lay was not burnt. 
In 1673, this phenomenon began to receive considerable attention when a Frenchman named Jonas Dupont published a SHC case that had gathered in a book entitled "De Humani Corporis Incendiis Spontaneis". 
Since the story of Thomas Bartholin first heard of until now, there are at least 200 reports of this mysterious event. 

Spontaneous Human Combustion pattern Victims

 Of the 200 reports received, there is a similar pattern was found in all the victim's body or the scene.Generally the victim's body had been burned down and was almost entirely reduced to ashes. It shows a fire that burns hotter than normal fire. Usually the only remaining pieces of the victim's hand or foot. In most cases, the victim was left a little belly, while the bone completely to ashes.

In this event, the objects around the victim was never burned. In some cases, even the bed sheets where the victim was not burned at all. 

At the scene, also commonly found substances such as fat covering the ceiling and walls. Usually, this fat layer reaches up to one meter above the floor. Objects that are in the area of ​​one meter is showing signs of heat damage, such as a cracked mirror or melted wax. 

These events generally occurred when the victim was in his own home and the coroner who arrived on the scene usually smell the smoke and the sweet smell in the room where the incident occurred.
