History of Chinese New Year. Lunar new year is a celebration for Chinese people. Lunar comes from countries whose population is majority Chinese. This celebration is also known as the Spring Festival or Chung Chie. This celebration is accompanied by a ritual called La (the last day of the year when the harvest has been completed and as an expression of gratitude, the Chinese (Chinese) to give offerings to the gods and ancestors).
