Mystery Tel Jericho, Skyscraper Building Ancient World First

Since the discovery by archaeologists in 1962, 28 foot-high stone tower that was found on the corner of the town of Jericho has been a puzzle for scientists. Currently, 11,000 years after the tower was built, the archaeological site of ancient Jericho Tel uncover new facts about the building "skyscraper" first in the world.  

Advanced computer-based research by doctoral student Roy Liran and Dr. Ran Barkai of the Department of Archaeology Jacob M. Alkow Tel Aviv University and the Ancient Near Eastern Cultures at the Faculty of Humanities Lester and Sally uncover who built the tower 28 feet it - and why was it built?
 

The researchers noted that this is the first man to enforce such a high building, before the transition to agriculture and food production in the area. Liran and Dr. Barker is currently so confident that the tower, it takes ten years to build it is an indication of the power struggle at the beginning of the Neolithic period, and a person or a particular community has been to exploit fears of the inhabitants of ancient Jericho to persuade them to immediately build the tower. Regarding the disclosure of new research on these ancient towers are published in the journal Antiquity.
 

"In this article we publish a new state a new and exciting discovery," said Liran and Dr.barkai in a statement. "There is something that is connected to the position of the tower on the corner of the village of Jericho, and the shadows that surround the site when the sun sets on the longest day in a year."
 
Ladder (and tower) to Heaven
 "Reconstruction of the sunset revealed to us that the shadow of the hill at sunset on the longest day this year falls exactly on the Jericho tower, tower cover and cover the whole village.
 
"For this reason, we suspect that the tower is used as a natural element that connects people to the site in the hills around them and the heavenly elements where the sun sets."

Dismantling the old theories
 Some researchers have claimed that the tower and the wall consists of a system of fortifications and defenses against flooding. But others claim that the towers and walls as a geographical marker, defining the early residents of Jericho, and a symbol of wealth and power of the ancient village.
 
In an article in 2008, researchers from the University of Tel Aviv, stated that the towers and walls of Jericho should be seen as cosmological markers, connecting the ancient village of Jericho with Qarantal nearby Mountain and sunset on the day that extends the year. That's their new hypothesis.
 
The idea is based on the fact that the axis of the level of the ladder in the tower was built at right angles to the setting sun on the longest day of the year behind the highest peak overlooking Jericho, Mount Qarantal. They believe that it is mankind's first skyscraper, however small, and also the first public building in the world.
