The phenomenon of sandstorms tower in Kansas

A Ford Explorer was not far from the path of hell towers Kansas winds that carry sand, an unforgettable image. This incredible photograph depicts a 4000 foot-high storm winds that carry sand granules. This photo was taken by a "storm chaser" the most famous in America named Jim Reed.

Reed has been documenting the natural phenomenon in the U.S. for 15 years. This photo appeared in National Geographic magazine published in June 2009. Ford Explorer that belonged to him who used to chase storms across America for over a decade and a half.


Storm phenomenon is often referred to as "Landspout" or "spray ground". Tornadoes are formed by thunderstorms or cumulus clouds that form the tower. This phenomenon is generally short-lived. The photos above was taken on May 8, 2008. Tornado was just one of 187 who attacked the Kansas tornado in 2008.
