2012, Hurricane Sun will Rise
United
States Space Agency (NASA) warned that if during the year 2012 and 2013
solar activity was increased and resulted in more frequent solar storms
on Earth.
Solar storm (coronal mass ejection / CME) is a large energy release of
radiation and combustion gases from the surface of the Sun. Radiation is spreading into space and will be up to the Earth's atmosphere. A
fairly large solar storm could even lead to magnetic storms on Earth up
to electrical breakdown, telephone signals, and the chaos of Global
Positioning System (GPS).
Release of natural phenomena hot plasma from the Sun is actually a natural thing to happen. But the solar activity cycle 11 was entering the annual, which will peak in 2013 or later.
At the end of the year 2011 is expected to occur several times solar storms between 28 and 31 December. However, the population of the Earth does not need to worry because this storm will not cause the chaos of nature. In fact, it will produce a beautiful natural phenomenon, the aurora.
"There
is a 20-40 percent chance geomagnetic storms," said
NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory in a Twitter account. "If you live in the highlands, try to notice the occurrence of auroras."
NASA also confirmed ready to cope with these solar storms. However,
the unfortunate thing is the disruption of community social life
because they are now very dependent on technology that would be
problematic during solar storms hit.
"Modern
society relies heavily on high-tech systems such as GPS and satellite
communications. All this is very vulnerable to solar storms," says
Lika Guhathakurta of NASA as a physicist.
To
overcome this problem, NASA admitted that he had worked with several
technology providers to be aware of the impact of solar storms. (Source: International Bussines Time)
